Finding a women's perfume that still smells good at the end of the day is harder in Pakistan than almost anywhere. Long commutes, hot afternoons and full days of work or family events wear a fragrance down quickly. Soft floral sprays often vanish within a couple of hours.
This guide explains how to choose a perfume that lasts, then covers long-lasting options for everyday wear, the office, evenings and weddings. It also includes a short section on choosing a perfume as a gift.
Full disclosure: this guide is written by Rao Scents, so the picks below come from our own Elegance and Heritage Series. The advice on choosing a long-lasting perfume applies to any brand.
How to choose a women's perfume that lasts
Look for "Eau de Parfum" on the bottle
The label tells you how much fragrance oil is inside. An eau de toilette (EDT) usually has 5–15% oil and fades in a few hours. An eau de parfum (EDP) has more, typically 15–20%, and lasts much longer. Rao Scents perfumes are eau de parfums blended at 40% oil concentration, well above a typical EDP, which is why they hold up in the heat.
Check the base notes
Every perfume has top notes (what you smell first), heart notes and base notes (what stays at the end). Light florals and citrus fade first. Vanilla, musk, sandalwood, amber and oud are the notes that keep a perfume going into the evening. A floral perfume with a warm base will last far longer than a purely fresh one.
Know which scent family you like
| Scent family | What it feels like | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Floral | Rose, jasmine, peony. Romantic and feminine | Daily wear, office |
| Powdery | Soft, clean, elegant, close to skin | Office, everyday |
| Fruity floral | Peach, freesia, sweet and bright | Evenings, going out |
| Oud and amber | Rich, warm, traditional | Weddings, Eid, winter |
Long-lasting perfumes for women
NAZ: best for the office and everyday elegance
Smells like: orange blossom and mandarin, then Turkish rose and jasmine, finishing on vanilla, tonka bean and white musk.
Soft, powdery and refined. It stays close to the skin, so it's polite enough for the office and still noticeable when someone comes near. A safe choice if you're not sure what she likes.
AFSANA: best romantic floral for daily wear
Smells like: fresh peony and mandarin, a heart of rose and osmanthus, and a soft base of sandalwood and patchouli.
A classic, feminine floral that works from morning to evening and in every season. If you love rose perfumes, this is the one to try first.
DAZZY: best for evenings and going out
Smells like: freesia, juicy peach and gardenia, then Damask rose and jasmine, ending on creamy natural vanilla.
The brightest and sweetest of the three, with a trail people remember. Wear it to dinners, parties and anywhere you want to be noticed.
WAJDAN: best soft oud for women
Smells like: white amber and soft florals, with vanilla, cardamom and rose, settling into white oud, sandalwood and white musk.
Many women love oud but find traditional oud too heavy. WAJDAN is a clean, gentle white oud from our unisex range that feels calm and graceful rather than smoky.
For weddings and Eid
For big occasions, a richer scent fits the moment. GUMAAN combines rose and saffron with amber and Cambodian oud. It's a classic oriental perfume that suits heavy outfits, wedding functions and Eid gatherings, for women and men alike.
Which perfume for which occasion?
| Occasion | Best pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Office, university | NAZ | Soft and elegant, never overpowering |
| Everyday | AFSANA | Romantic rose that works in any season |
| Dinners, parties | DAZZY | Sweet, bright and memorable |
| Weddings, Eid | GUMAAN | Rose, saffron and oud for big occasions |
| Prefers subtle oud | WAJDAN | Clean white oud, gentle and calm |
Buying perfume as a gift?
If you're choosing for your wife, sister, mother or a friend, these simple rules help:
- Think about her style. If she dresses simply and elegantly, choose NAZ. If she loves bold colours and going out, choose DAZZY. If she's romantic, choose AFSANA.
- When in doubt, go soft. A gentle floral is easier to love than a heavy oud if you don't know her taste.
- Give her a choice. With Build Your Bundle you can pick any 3 perfumes and save 20%. She gets a perfume for every mood, and the bundle works well for Eid gifts or anniversaries.
Tips to make your perfume last longer
- Apply right after a shower, on moisturised skin.
- Spray on pulse points: neck, behind the ears, inner wrists and inner elbows.
- Don't rub your wrists together. It speeds up how fast the scent fades.
- Lightly mist your dupatta or scarf. Fabric holds fragrance much longer than skin. Test on a hidden corner first, as some delicate fabrics can mark.
- Keep the bottle in a cool cupboard, away from sunlight and out of a hot car.

Frequently asked questions
Will a floral perfume last in summer?
It can, if it's an eau de parfum with a warm base. NAZ and AFSANA both finish on musk, vanilla or sandalwood, which keeps them going after the fresh top notes fade.
Can women wear oud?
Absolutely. Oud is traditionally worn by both women and men. If you're new to it, start with a softer white oud like WAJDAN before trying richer scents like GUMAAN.
How long do Rao Scents perfumes last?
They're blended at 40% oil and rated for 12–18 hours on skin. Exactly how long one lasts on you depends on your skin, the weather and how much you spray, and it lasts longer on clothes.
Can I pay cash on delivery?
Yes. Every order has free delivery and cash on delivery across Pakistan, and usually arrives in 2–4 working days. Read our shipping policy and exchange policy for details.
